In April and early May Fforwm Tirlun will host two seminars in support of the landscape industry in Wales.
Trade associations exist to support their members and to provide assurances for those buying their goods and services. The are many trades associations linked to the landscaping industry operating in Wales. They play an important part in developing standards, and training and developing the skills of their members.
A seminar is being convened in April (date to be confirmed) to investigate how Fforwm Tirlun might work with trades associations to best effect.
Representatives of landscaping trades associations are invited to contact us to confirm their interest in attending the seminar which will be arranged in Mid Wales.
The landscaping business is clearly a growth sector and one which offers great potential for Wales. The challenge posed by climate change means that our landscapes will need to be planned and managed differently in future to mitigate and modify the impacts of global warming. Addressing these problems will demand that new skills and competences be developed and that academic institutions (at further and higher education levels) have the capacity to teach them.
At present there is a paucity of training and development provision in Wales to meet this agenda notably at Higher education level.
Fforwm Tirlun is hosting a one day seminar in April to explore the training needs and opportunities for those involved in the landscape industry in Wales. Invitations are being extended to those currently providing training at further and higher education levels, professional institutions, trades associations, companies providing training and public sector agencies.
The aim of the seminar is to highlight the need for an integrated strategy to meet the forthcoming training and development needs of the landscape industry in Wales.
The objectives are:
Invitations will be extended to colleges of further and higher education, trades associations and private training providers to attend this seminar to be convened on 30th April or 2nd May
